Curtain ties out of neck ties

So... as my first real project of 2011, I have decided to make curtain ties out of men's neck ties.  It always seems there is a surplus of men's ties at thrift stores and most of them are made from fine fabrics and have cool designs, so... WHY NOT USE THEM IN INTERIOR SPACES?
